Poetry Wednesday – Poem for Gaia

SoilAncient one built on millennia of elemental cells

She is always right

Everything comes from her, is consumed by her, returns to her

Her dark wet body teems with life

Roots penetrating deep and hard

Drawing in new life, more life

Reaching out to connect

She gives birth over and over

Carbon hearts growing in her warm dark womb

Bursting forth like children from school

Growing to please their mother

Dying to feed their mother

Sending seed into her dark wet body

Roots penetrating deep and hard

Drawing in new life, more life

Reaching out to connect

She gives birth over and over and over

Carbon hearts growing in her warm dark womb

Her dark wet body holds life and death

Deep wet caves full of surprise

Tiny lives dormant in the dark

Waiting to feel the light

Roots penetrating deep and hard

Drawing in new life, more life

Reaching out to connect

She gives birth over and over and over and over

Carbon hearts growing in her warm dark womb
